My Dart Story: Why'd ya get a Dart anyways?

Often I'm asked the question, why did you get a Dart? Especially after I first got it. Many people gave me a hard time about getting the Dart. Plenty of times I've heard people say, "The Dart's not fast" or "The Dart isn't built for performance." I didn't buy a Dart because I wanted to go fast, or because I wanted a car built for performance.
The day I went to the dodge dealership to look at a new car I had no intention of buying. At that time I had a 1997 Chrysler LHS that I had been given by my parents. That car had so many problems, I was afraid to try to drive it anywhere too far because it seemed like every time I did the car left me stranded; one time I got stuck in Winston-Salem for 8 whole hours before someone could come rescue me.
The very reason to have a car is to be able to go places; to have the sense of freedom that comes with the open road. I really enjoy driving, I needed to be able to trust the car I had to take me anywhere, and sometimes no where in particular. This is the whole reason I started looking at new cars, I needed that sense of freedom in my life.
I drove a few cars before I got in a Dart; Chrysler 200, Dodge Avenger, Charger. I was afraid of the payments on the charger so I decided to leave that one alone. It's a good thing they let me drive a V6 or the whole story might be different. I decided to test drive what I thought was the only Dart on the lot, a blue one, at this time I don't remember what package it had, it was however fully loaded. I drove this car around for a little bit and I just knew it was the one. I had to have a Dart. I loved the way it handled, it gets great gas mileage, and it looks pretty mean. Only thing was I didn't want the Dart I test drove, it had leather seats and that tan interior, both of which I hate. It's nice in other peoples cars but I wanted a black cloth interior in my car.
After hearing that I wanted a black interior the salesman said they had a Dart with a black interior, and showed me what later became BabyRed. Looking the car over and starting it up everything looked and sounded good, so I was sold. I definitely did not set out to buy a red car but when I saw it sitting there I knew it was the one.
Since then I have been on many trips, both near and far, with my little red Dart. I have absolutely fallen in love. To me it doesn't matter that people say the Dart doesn't go fast, or that it's not built for performance. I'm not out the please the rest of the world with a fast and fancy car, and the Dart does exactly what I need it to, gets me where I'm going, and I think it looks good doing it, so it doesn't matter what people that aren't Dart people say about it.
Why did I get a Dart? Because it gave me what I needed most in life, the power to go, and I couldn't be happier with my choice.
